Yes, I was talking to you.

Samantha is one of the hardest dogs to take pictures of.
She CAN'T sit still!
I got her to actually pay attention here because I asked her where her ball was.

Sam is my 2 1/2 year old rescued Border Collie/ Golden retriever mix.

My dad rescued Samantha when she was 10 weeks old.
I was begging my dad for another dog. And I told him I didn't care what kind.
So one day he finds Samantha.
She wasn't being taking care of.
She was scrawny, and she had the looks of the mange.
So my dad felt sorry for her and asked the owners of her if he could take her home.
My dad drove up from work and came inside and informed me that there was a stinky puppy waiting for me in his car.
I run out there and found a little nasty black ball of fur sitting in my dad's car.
I took her inside, gave her a warm bath (some of her hair fell out because of the mange), dried her off, fed her, and put her in a little dog crate.

She had the mange for 2 months ( she was getting treated. It just takes a long time)
She was...to put it bluntly, hideous.
And at times I wondered why I wanted another dog.
She stayed in my room so none of our other dogs would get the mange. And she smelled terrible.
But I held her and let her sleep in my lap.
Which I think, helped her bond with me.

And then a month before her first birthday, while we were gone, she got out and wondered down to the road and got hit by a car.
She broke her left hip completely in half.
The vet thought she would need pins, but he went ahead and put a cast on to see if it would heal on it's own before we decided to do surgery. [link]
She healed in 3 weeks.
She was back outside fetching balls in 4 weeks.

She has grown into a very beautiful, smart, girl.
She knows all the basic commands (sit, down, stay, come) and she also knows how to shake, hug, and kiss.
We're working on other fun tricks at the moment.
